Sam Dufaux and Gerardo Paez Speaking at The Interior Design Show

This year, we are contributing to a pair of seminars at the Interior Design Show about Planning and Landscape Architecture.

Join Principal Sam Dufaux and Landscape Architecture Lead Gerardo Paez at this year's Interior Design Show for their seminars.

Master Planning: The Right Ways Forward
Friday, January 20, 2023 — 9:30am

Master planning, or the regulatory framework that controls uses, circulation, open space and the two-dimensional relations between public and private space, is changing. Traditionally top-down and infrastructure-forward, new from-the-ground-up concepts are revolutionizing cities. This seminar will examine recent master plans by three heavy-hitting architecture firms that exemplify new ways of thinking, including “cohesive design,” “landscape-first,” and “holistic design” approaches that build professional relationships, benefit communities, and influence interiors and the environment.

Speakers: Sam Dufaux of SvN, Andre D’Elia of Superkul, Cathy Knott of Hariri Pontarini and Michael Conway of Hariri Pontarini.

The Landscape-First Design Approach
Friday, January 20, 2023 — 11:30am

Landscape decisions are often made at the end of the design process in projects related to the built environment. This panel explores the benefits and opportunities of leading with landscape – allowing the site itself to provide the framework and guidance for all the design decisions that flow from place. Using examples of projects at different scales – from large to small –this group of experienced panelists demonstrate the value of a life-centric, rather than human-centric, approach.

Speakers: Gerardo Paez from SvN, Calvin Brook, Wayne Swanton. Moderated by Lorraine Johnson

Both conference sessions have been submitted for OAA and IDCEC accreditation.
Accreditation details will be updated on the IDS website once confirmed.
