Cabin Communities wins AZ Award of Merit

Our Cabin Communities Initiative won an AZ Award of Merit for Ideas, Prototypes, and Unbuilt Projects.

We're proud to announce that Housing the Unhoused has won an AZURE Magazine Award of Merit for Ideas, Prototypes, and Unbuilt Projects!

In collaboration with Two Steps Home and CABN, our cabins offer a regenerative solution to the city’s housing crisis. Designed for quick deployment on vacant lots, these 8.8-square-meter units provide safe, private, and comfortable transitional homes within a community setting. Together, they would surround a shared central space, with ancillary buildings providing support to residents such as kitchen and dining area, washrooms with washing machines, and community support access spaces.

As permanent housing units become available, community residents would have an opportunity to move in, freeing cabin space for the next person. The community as a whole can also be relocated to another site when construction begins on the lot.

A big thank you to our partners and supporters for making this vision a reality!
