A New Partner, Hires and Promotions, Alongside an Expanded Presence on Canada’s West Coast
Recent changes and team expansions come at a time when we are leading important discussions around climate-positive practices, housing affordability and urban design
We are pleased to announce a new partner, and staff promotions, alongside an expanded studio presence on Canada’s West Coast. The series of interrelated changes include an expansion of the firm’s partnership, as well as a new design lead for SvN’s expanded Vancouver office. Our multi-disciplinary firm’s leadership team is also growing with the recent promotion of Carolyn Fearman as the newest Senior Associate and the recent hire of Camille Mitchell as Associate.
Leading the firm's evolving commitment to climate-positive planning and design, Aaron Budd will become the firm's newest partner. Previously serving as the Director of Regenerative Practice, Budd’s work has deepened our expertise in environmental sustainability strategies. As an architect with a planning and sustainability background, Budd brings over two decades of global design experience, bridging architectural design with environmental analysis and technical knowledge. Budd’s new leadership role strengthens SvN's commitment to integrating architecture, landscape design and planning in a holistic, zero-carbon, circular and resilient community framework, extending beyond basic sustainable design practices.

Minsu Kim recently joined SvN as our Design Lead for the Vancouver office to strengthen our ongoing commitment to its West Coast clients. Kim is an architect with extensive international experience leading mixed-used, office, residential and cultural projects in British Columbia, South Korea, Indonesia and Australia. In 2018, his dedication to design work garnered him international recognition when the Asian design magazine Perspective awarded him a 40 under 40 Award. "Having dedicated most of my career to complex mixed-use and commercial projects in British Columbia's Lower Mainland and the Pacific Rim, I'm excited to build our firm's presence in the region and to work with clients concerned about housing affordability, transit-oriented communities and responding to the global climate crisis," says Kim.
Newly appointed Associate Antoine Morris will support Kim in Vancouver. Morris has worked on a range of projects in Ontario and the West Coast, from low- and mid-rise residential buildings to large-scale masterplans.

To bolster studio leadership we have promoted Carolyn Fearman as our newest Senior Associate. Fearman is an exceptional team leader, managing some of the office's most complex and multidisciplinary projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
Our Toronto studio is also adding Camille Mitchell as an Associate. Mitchell has worked with major public and private clients while continuing to serve as a powerful advocate for under-represented groups intent on improving the built environment, serving as the founding member of independent organizations Building Equality in Architecture Toronto (BEAT) and the Black Architects + Interior Designer Association (BAIDA), two organizations that support mentorship, networking and leadership opportunities for women and visible minorities within the architecture profession.

"We are excited to celebrate an enhanced leadership at a time when our firm is expanding locally and across the country," says Principal Shonda Wang. "We have achieved a milestone in our history where we are fully committed to serving new markets and building the strength and positivity of a regenerative practice dedicated to creating great places where people thrive, and nature flourishes."
For over 40 years, SvN has remained committed to building better communities and housing while addressing the critical need to create inclusive cities that allow people to stay connected to their work, community and home.
